The Head of Business Intelligence & Performance Reporting is a key leadership role within our Decision Intelligence function. The successful candidate will be a talented, forward-thinking leader.
The role
- Establishing ‘best-in-class’ Business Intelligence & Performance Reporting capabilities at cinch, you will be responsible for leading a team of BI & Performance Reporting Developers and enhancing cinch’s organisational BI & Performance Reporting capabilities to benefit our stakeholders.
- Play a leading role in the delivery of clear, timely & accurate insights to numerous stakeholders across cinch up to Board level, championing high quality for all team outputs and overseeing the creation of critical reports and dashboards.
- Working alongside our Data Engineering & ML Ops function to help shape the strategy & development of our Data Warehouse.
- Work closely alongside other teams within Decision Intelligence, including; Data Analysis & Insights, Digital Analytics & CRO, Data Engineering & ML Ops & Data Science to ensure all Decision Intelligence activities remain aligned.
- Must be a technical 'hands-on' leader in this ‘player/coach’ position, ready to provide technical guidance to the team to develop, maintain, monitor & optimise reports, dashboards, data models as well as cinch’s core BI & Performance Reporting platform.
- Day-to-day leadership and development of a team of skilled BI & Performance Reporting Developers, responsible for cultivating a culture for Continual Professional Development (CPD) spanning their technical & non-technical proficiencies, skills & competencies.
- Build strong, open & trusting working relationships with key stakeholders, working with them to set a vision and roadmap for BI & Performance Reporting at cinch in order to fully leverage the value of cinch’s data, putting the customer at the heart of cinch’s ambitions to deliver a “faff free” experience.
- Oversee cinch’s BI & Performance Reporting platform (Power BI), making sure that our people receive the necessary training, support, information & guidance they need in order to develop intuitive and insightful reports, as we strive for greater data democratisation.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals with your team, agreeing objectives in-line with cinch’s broader business priorities, acting as a point of escalation to help unblock issues preventing the team from delivery.
- Working pro-actively to identify new opportunities to surface the power of data, in order to unlock competitive advantage for cinch - whilst making recommendations – highlighting the “so what?” in order to drive performance.
- Regularly reviewing the output of your team, ensuring high quality standards of work, adherence to best practice & punctual delivery of all team outputs - striving for excellence to maximise value to the team’s customers.
- Be an evangelist for the cinch Decision Intelligence function & data-driven decision making across cinch, championing and facilitating data democratisation across the organisation.
- Identifying common BI & Performance Reporting requirements across different parts of cinch which could be serviced by a single data product, avoiding duplication of work across the team wherever possible
The person
- You’ll be a confident leader, with demonstrable experience of having managed, mentored and motivated a team of skilled BI Developers. Capable of providing regular open & constructive feedback and recognition.
- Passionate about all things BI & Performance Reporting, with proven data visualisation & dashboard development skills. Well-versed in being able to provide guidance to teams on how to surface insights as well as data-informed recommendations to enact change.
- Experience of implementation / integration of processes and ‘best practice’ within teams – coaching others to ensuring consistent deployment & version controls for analysis & insights across the business (e.g. Github or other version control tools).
- Leading teams in an agile methodology, effectively running team ceremonies, setting and maintaining robust ways of working
- Experience leading / strongly collaborating on data warehousing projects, capturing & communicating requirements and developing data models, making the data warehouse widely accessible to others.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience of with Business Intelligence / data visualisation tools (preferably Power BI), although will consider applicants with Tableau, Qlik, Looker etc.
- Advanced SQL skills are required as the primary means of querying / extracting data from source systems / Data Warehouse, whilst also being able to provide coaching t others throughout cinch.
- Intermediary to advanced Excel knowledge (V Lookup, pivot tables, macros).
